Task Reports

10.30-3.00pm. We will be weeding,  planting and constructing a compost bin. We also need to carry out repairs on our poly beds.

General orchard maintenance, mowing, weeding under trees, creating beetle bank and preparation for a "minibeast"  area.

We will be helping to manage the nature area, clearing pathways and vegetation so the children can use the site for the rest of the year.

We will be helping to rejuvenate the school's wildlife garden, that got a little overgrow during lockdown. so that the children can make full use of it this summer, mainly weeding paths and cutting back vegetation. 

We will be netting and weeding the fruit bushes and continuing to build the beetle banks.

Continuing to ready the garden for the belated growing season. weeding, sowing, potting up, repairs, sorting and tidying, sowing wildflowers on the land by the car park.  

We continued our orchard management, weeding to prepare areas to make beetle banks as part of our organic methods of pest control. Beetle populations have declined because of loss of habitat including decaying wood, so hopefully we will encourage more into the site. 

Volunteers worked on the roof garden and meadow, weeding, sowing seeds, potting up seedlings and repairing cloches and other structures to give protection to vegetables, and general sorting and tidying. 

Volunteers completed the path area around the apple store, laying and compacting a layer of sandstone on top of the hardcore laid the day before. 

The area looks very impressive, the sandstone colour complementing the trees in blossom.
